We are looking for experienced Carpenters to complete repair and installation of commercial fire doors, frames and hardware within existing hospitals. This position is full-time, year-round, and travels 100% with one trip home monthly.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • Working in active hospitals
  • Administer proper infectious control measures per hospital requirements
  • Repair/Install fire door frames, doors, locksets, latches, closers, strike plates, miscellaneous door, and frame hardware and material to bring up to code requirements
    • Filling holes in frames/doors
    • Shimming to correct clearances
    • Cleaning/installing closers and hardware to fix latching and closing issues
  • Use of smartphones for reporting daily progress to Project Manager and/or Facility Manager
  • Working with carpenter hand tools (drill, screws, screwdriver, tap & dye sets, bondo, sander, etc.)
  • Occasionally assist other departments with inspections, wall repair, and damper repair when needed
  • Work within a small team - following the directions and leadership of site lead

Requirements Skills and Experience

  • 2+ years of carpentry experience (residential or commercial)
  • Comfortable working on heights, ladders and small spaces
  • Attention to detail. Installations must be done in a professional manner and left in a condition ready to receive final owner finishes
  • Ability to understand how to read construction drawings and work through a facility
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Willing to cross-train in other scopes/departments
  • Ability to travel 100% (paid travel incentive, per diem, rentals, hotel)
  • Must pass a Drug Test, LIFETIME Background Check & Motor Vehicle Record
  • Must be willing to submit to TB test, vaccination blood tests, & vaccinations when required by the client (MMR, Flu, Varicella, etc.)
  • No visible tattoos
  • No smoking
  • Must have a valid current driver's license and eligible to rent a car (21+ years old)

Preferred Experience, but not required

  • Experience working in hospitals
  • Knowledge of NFPA 80 & NFPA 101 for fire doors

Compensation

  • $18-28 hour Competitive pay based on technical ability, experience, leadership ability plus travel per diem
  • Airfare & hotel provided by the employer
